Inventing the Digital Medium: An Interview with Janet Murray (Part One)

Via Scoop.it - a lifetime online

Janet Murray still going strong, and has new book out   “So the short answer to your question is, my core ideas from 1997 have proven quite useful despite the profound disruptions and exhilarating inventions of the past 15 years because my experience at MIT from the 1980s through 1990s anticipated a lot of the challenges that hit the wider society later. And the principles I’m always trying to teach my students and that I did my best to put down in Inventing the Medium (ITM) should last over the next several decades of change, because they are not about how to design for any particular platform, but about how to approach the digital design process itself so that decisions you make today will align with the trends of lasting innovation and solutions that you arrive at in the context of today’s gizmos can teach you something and inform choices that you will make as a designer in the unknown future environment.”

Tuesday Tube Day: A Flock Of Birds

¿movimentos de capital? ¿modas? ¿mercados?

gidsy:

Amazing video made by two friends canoeing and witnessing a ‘murmuration’ of starlings, an impressive nature phenomena where animals flock together. The spectacular ‘waves’ of the flock of birds looks more like CGI than something real.

Separating the way that you work and the reason that you work is a neurosis.
For a lot of people, this is extremely challenging — jobs are hard enough to come by, and sometimes survival trumps ideology.
When survival becomes your ideology, anything becomes feasible.

The problem was laid out by Rory Sutherland when president of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising. Marketing, he argued, is either ineffectual or it “raises enormous ethical questions every day”.

About
